Lake Cities Golf Tournament

2021 LCEF Scholarship Recipients

Formed in 2000, the Lake Cities Education Foundation’s mission is to assist the students and teachers of Lake Dallas Independent School District through the awarding of innovative teaching grants to educators and scholarships to graduating seniors of Lake Dallas High School.

These grants and scholarships are funded through our annual fundraisers, the Gala and Auction, held each fall, and the Memorial Golf Tournament, held each summer.  In addition, permanent endowments, established by friends and family members who have chosen to memorialize their loved ones, provide annual awards. The first LCEF scholarships, totaling $4500, were awarded 21 years ago to 9 students. Currently, over $560,000 has been awarded to 382 deserving seniors.

To select the 2021 scholarship recipients, we again utilized a blind selection process:  the LCEF traded scholarship applications with the Aubrey Education Foundation to provide an objective and unbiased evaluation process. The applications were then scored by established criteria and ranked according to the total score.

Continuing the tradition started in 2018, we presented each recipient with an honor cord. The cords, comprised of green and white satin strands to represent the school colors of Lake Dallas High School, are intertwined with blue strands to signify the Lake Cities communities’ support for our students.

Unfortunately, Lake Dallas High School was unable to hold their annual Rosecutting and Scholarship Award ceremony due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, LCEF representatives were able to present the students with their scholarships and honor cords the day before graduation in time for the students to include their cords with their graduation regalia.  The 2021 recipients are:

Competition Arises at Annual Golf Tournament

A few weeks ago, on Monday, June 10, we hosted our 18th annual Lake Cities Education Foundation Memorial Golf Tournament at the Oakmont Country Club. Our annual golf tournament helps to make countless scholarships and grants a reality for our community. As in past years, the golf tournament was a great success and raised considerable funding for deserving students and teachers in our school district.

Split into morning and afternoon flights, teams of four duked it out using their competitive spirit to win low gross team, longest drive, closest to the pin, and (if applicable) Hole in One. Every did a fantastic job, and we are so thankful for the positive difference you have made in the lives of our students, teachers, and communities.

Let’s take a moment and celebrate our tournament winners!
